James Bruce Travels to Discover the Source of the Nile Edinburgh University Press 1964 Hardback Fair Fair f41 First published in 1790, the tale Buce of Kinnaird, a formidable Scot, who was determined to discover the source of the Nile for himself. Not to be put off by the fact that it had earlier been discovered by missionaries. In 1768 he set off from Cairo reaching the source two years later. Professor Beckingham has abridged Bruce's enormous volume to a compact size, discarding the preliminary journies in favour of the excitement of Abyssinian Travels. This copy is sound but has been in a library. The pages are clean but there is a stamp and I think one of the forepages has been removed, A hinge has been strengthened. Cover is almost complete but has been aided by some sellotape on the back. There is one neat name inside. A heavy book, there may be additional postage outside the UK Price:
